Clear circulation routes and intuitive wayfinding will help create an accessible and inclusive environment that successfully integrates educational and community uses.
A Passivhaus-led approach underpins the design, supporting North Ayrshire Council's net zero ambitions while creating healthy and comfortable learning environments. Careful consideration of orientation, daylight and building form will help minimise operational energy demand, while a robust palette of durable materials will provide a welcoming character suited to a high-use community campus.
The campus will serve a diverse range of users, from early years children through to secondary pupils, ASN provision and community groups. Facilities including a swimming pool, sports hall, theatre, library and spaces for health, police and social services will support activity throughout the day and beyond the school timetable. Developed through extensive consultation, Ardrossan Community Campus will respond directly to community needs while acting as a catalyst for the regeneration of the emerging coastal quarter.
