Social Value

To us, social value and good design go hand in hand. We believe architecture should make a positive difference to people’s lives by supporting wellbeing, inclusion and long‑term community benefit.

This ethos is reflected by:

  • Creating welcoming, inclusive and accessible spaces and places.
  • Designing spaces to support and enhance learning, wellbeing and social interaction
  • Think to the future, ensuring buildings are adaptable, sustainable and resilient over time.
  • Engaging with communities through design consultations and education opportunities such as work experience
  • Championing mental health and wellbeing within our teams through our dedicated jm‑care group

Charity outreach

Giving back is an important part of our practice culture. We actively support charitable initiatives that reflect our values and the contribute to the communities we work within including:

  • Supporting and engaging with mental health and wellbeing charities, such as SAMH and The Architects Benevolent Society.
  • Providing pro bono design support, including work with the Scottish Centre for
 Personal Safety.
  • Hosting coffee mornings and in‑studio fundraising events.
  • Supporting architecture‑focused charities that promote access, education and inclusion.

Together, reflecting our belief that being a responsible practice means contributing time, skills and support in ways that create meaningful, lasting impact.

Environmental responsibility

Our approach is practical and design‑led, with a strong focus on fabric‑first thinking, energy efficiency and careful material choices. With in‑house Passivhaus‑accredited designers and wide experience working with historic buildings, we’re able to create low‑energy solutions that remain sensitive to their setting and character.

We’re guided by a practice‑wide Net Zero Carbon commitment and supported by our ISO 14001:2015 accredited environmental management system. Shape how we work, how we collaborate with clients, community and project teams, keeping sustainability at the heart of everything we do.

Our ISO 9001:2015 certified quality management system is embedded across the practice, guiding how projects are planned, reviewed and delivered at every RIBA stage. Ongoing training, shared learning, CPD’s and regular external audits help us continually improve how we work, ensuring quality is maintained throughout every project
