Tweedbank Care Village received Planning approval!

We are delighted to announce that our design for a dementia friendly Care Village at the stunning Lowood Estate in Tweedbank has received full Planning permission.

The new Care Village looks to change the way care is delivered in the Scottish Borders by supporting small-group living and promoting social inclusion, in a safe and secure, non-institutional, environment for residents and staff.

The Care Village will be the first zone developed in the proposed masterplan for the Lowood Estate. This beautiful location is key in the expansion of Tweedbank and provides a unique landscaped setting along the river edge. The site is bounded by mature trees and overlooks a large natural pond,  providing a spectacular setting for the Care Village and providing opportunities for walking, growing and social interaction between the residents and the community.

A drop-in session is being planned for Tweedbank on Friday 26 September, 11am-1pm, in the Inspire Academy building adjacent to the railway station. The invitation is open to anyone with an interest in the development and will provide an opportunity to explore the newly approved plans, get a preview of the proposed colour scheme and experience some of the innovative technology that will be used to deliver care. Main construction is expected to commence in January 2026, with completion targeted for June 2027.
