Newhouse Academy has reached Completion!

We are delighted to announce that the Phase 1 of the school replacement project at Newhouse Academy has been successfully completed and handed over in time for the new academic year. This is only the second Net Zero Carbon in Use school building in the Northwest to be completed.

As part of the Department for Education Contractor framework and the School Replacement Programme, Newhouse Academy is being transformed into a modern and energy efficient school with a new playground and school yard.

The new classroom block provides all the specialist classrooms, halls, dining and SEND facilities in a new, energy self-sufficient building. The oldest parts of the school will now be demolished and following some making-good works to the retained BSF (building schools for the future) block, the final exterior landscape will be created. When complete, the 326kWp solar Photovoltaic arrays will produce all the energy for the new, highly insulated building, making it carbon neutral in operation. Green roofs on the new building further enhance the biodiversity of the site and slow down rainwater run-off.
