Big news: Worship Square wins a 2025 SSDA Commendation!

We are delighted to announce that Worship Square has received a Commendation at the 2025 Structural Steel Design Awards.

Designed by Make Architects with jmarchitects as Executive Architect, we are proud to have contributed to a project that sets a benchmark for sustainable, people-focused urban development. Worship Square replaces two energy-inefficient concrete-framed buildings with a modern structural steel frame, delivering 134,000sq ft of flexible workspace and 4,500sq ft of retail space designed around efficiency, sustainability, and wellbeing.

Highlights include:

• A design that prioritises sustainability, with 100% of demolition waste diverted from landfill.
• Smart use of setbacks, colour, and natural light to enhance both aesthetics and occupant wellbeing.
• Communal roof terraces, a vegetable garden, fitness studio, and a “living lobby” to support community and health.
• Innovative engineering solutions that reduced steel tonnage and embodied carbon, while ensuring cost certainty.

This commendation reflects the collaborative effort of the entire project team, and we’re honoured to have played a key role in shaping such a forward-thinking development in the South Shoreditch Conservation Area.
