Work Progressing at Calanais Visitor Centre!

jmarchitects are thrilled to announce a key milestone on site on the Isle of Lewis!

The new Calanais Visitor Centre aims to create a world class visitor experience for the historic Standing Stones.  Through linking, re-use and extension of the existing facilities the proposal presents a unique solution that is sensitive to the historic environment whilst transforming the visitor experience. We see the various buildings as an ensemble or version of a farm steading with a variety of roof forms and building shapes which add interest but do not dominate.

jmarchitects have been working on the project for a number of years supporting the community and the Trust. Seeing the roofscapes take shape on site gives a real sense of the final form of the building in the historic landscape and is an exciting moment in the project’s timeline. We are delighted to continue working with UNT to deliver their vision for the site as work progresses at pace on site.
