Marking the importance of World Mental Health Day in the workplace!

Our studios marked the occasion for World Mental Health Day by taking time out from behind their workstations to enjoy breakfast together across our offices.

World Mental Health Day highlighted `Workplace Mental Health’ as its theme for 2024, so the jmcare group invited colleagues to participate in our “Tea and Talk” social gatherings held in each office. This is an opportunity to take some time from our busy schedules, to come together and share ways to look after our mental health at work. We took the opportunity to enable our staff to enjoy breakfast together within each office, providing the chance to engage in conversation away from our workstations.

We all appreciate work plays a large part in our lives and can have a significant impact on our mental health. Positive mental health gives us a sense of purpose, increases our self-worth, and provides opportunities to connect with others. On the flip side it can also be a source of stress and anxiety and contributes to having a negative effect, leading to mental health problems.

Many people spend a lot of their time working in a broad range of environments. That’s why it’s so important that our workplace supports our mental health, helping us get the mental health benefits of work while reducing the negative impact. The opportunity to talk is often the first beneficial step in guiding people toward positive mental health.

Whilst in the spirit of Mental Health Day, the Manchester office came up with a wonderful idea of starting a jm book club. This will involve meeting once a month over lunch and chatting through the chosen book which we believe will encourage people to have a well-deserved break, have something to look forward to and talk all things book related!
