Westminster's Sustainable City Charter Launch

This morning jmarchitects attended the launch of Westminster’s Sustainability Charter where owners, occupiers and consultants were urged to work collaboratively to achieve Westminster’s target of being net zero carbon by 2040.

At present commercial and institutional buildings contribute about 70% of the City’s greenhouse gas emissions.

Amongst the wealth of information that was delivered by the panel of presenters an interesting observation was that for this to happen, it will require not just the involvement of the large well known property owners and occupiers, but also that of the many owners and occupiers of smaller buildings that make up a significant proportion of Westminster’s rich urban fabric. Often these companies are very keen to embark on the journey but lack the resources and knowledge to do, which is whereas property consultants we should be able to help.

As the architects on many office and retail schemes in Westminster over the last 40 years jmarchitects are looking forward to working with our clients and fellow consultants to help achieve Westminster’s aim and to utilising our knowledge and experience of designing building to the highest standards of BREEAM, WELL and NABERS UK and achieving Net Zero Carbon in Construction and in Use.
