Please join us in welcoming our newest Architect, Rachael, who will be joining us in our Edinburgh studio!
We sat down with Rachael to get to know her better and here’s what she told us…
“I joined jmarchitects because…”
I joined jmarchitects after relocating to Edinburgh and I am delighted to become part of this busy and energetic team. It is great to have the opportunity to work on exciting, complex projects in education and residential sectors!
What trends do you feel are important in Architecture/ Design?
I am passionate about sustainability and have enjoyed working on a number of net zero carbon affordable housing projects in Greenwich. Sustainability, a growing respect for environmentally conscious standards such as Passivhaus and net zero carbon alongside research into new sustainable materials are a positive movement in architecture and design.
What do you like to do outside of work?
On Monday nights I attend ballet classes which is my ideal blend of challenging and peaceful. I enjoy running and completed the Edinburgh Half Marathon in May this year. For my next challenge I would like to enter a triathalon so I am learning how to swim, hoping to turn my splashy breaststroke into a slick and smooth front crawl.
