jmarchitects welcomes Rhea to the team!

We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Rhea Kay as Bid and Communications Coordinator. Rhea joins us in our Edinburgh studio and is working in close collaboration with all four of our offices across the UK.

We asked Rhea a few questions to get to know her and this is what she said…

Did you have an 'unusual' route to where you are today?

“I studied BA(Hons) Contemporary Textiles back home in Shetland, specialising in knitted textiles. I went on to work as a Kitchen Designer for deVOL Kitchens - an invaluable experience, showing me the importance of quality and consideration in design. Just before the Covid-19 pandemic I returned to Shetland where I set up my own creative practice. I further developed my art and photography, while delving into graphic design, website management, eCommerce, and social media. Alongside this I worked as a freelance Clerk for our community council which was a proactive and enjoyable role. These experiences led to my previous role as a Digital Communications Manager for an antiques warehouse here in Edinburgh, where I focused on eCommerce and social media management alongside processing customer enquiries. When the opportunity for a Bids & Communications Coordinator for jmarchitects came about, I knew I would be interested in it. I love good design, and nothing is more impressive than good architecture. Having a small role in the projects that goes on, while being able to see how they are developed by the talented folk here is something I am very much looking forward to.

What do you like to do outside of work?

“I love getting stuck into anything creative and am also enjoying getting settled into Edinburgh, exploring all of the great things going on here. It's nice getting out to see more of Scotland too, so any suggestions on new places to visit are welcome.”

What would your superpower be?

“Would be great have whatever Mary Poppins has - a wee click to get dishes done would be fabulous.”
