Walker Primary School is Shortlisted for the Brick Awards!

We’re delighted that Walker Primary School has been shortlisted for the 2021 Brick Awards!

The school is in a relatively rural setting on a prominent site in the Southgate Green Conservation Area, facing a Listed George Gilbert Scott church with the historic Walker cricket ground on one side and two 18th Century villas on the other.

The design aimed to echo the mottled stonework of the church opposite and after extensive colour matching, we chose a mix of three shades of cream/grey bricks. This was augmented by areas of limestone cladding which complemented the stonework round the church doors and windows. These elements were combined with green glazed brick infill panels and bronze aluminium windows which were designed to blend with the colours of the leaves and branches of the surrounding trees.

The school logo is a pixelated image of the prominent oak tree at the front of the site and was reproduced in Wienerberger brickwork on the front elevation.
