Steel Frame going up at Replacement Galashiels Academy!

It is exciting to see the steel frame being erected on site for the Replacement Galashiels Academy project! This is another key milestone in the project and begins to give a real sense of the scale of the project and how it will sit within its beautiful parkland setting. jmarchitects have been down on site regularly over the last couple of months to observe the progress of substructure works, including the pouring of the swimming and hydrotherapy pool concrete slabs, and the start of the erection of the steel frame. Works which are being undertaken by Advance Construction Scotland and BSB Structural Ltd. The scale of the project and the progress being made are captured in Hub South East Scotland’s drone footage of the site. The project is being delivered by Scottish Borders Council’s development partner, Hub South East Scotland, with Morrison Construction the appointed contractor. jmarchitects are lead consultant of the design team. The new facility is being constructed whilst the existing school and community swimming pool remain operational, avoiding significant disruption for pupils and local community, and ultimately delivering an inspiring education and community facility.
