Shawfair All-through Campus submitted for Planning!

We are excited to share that the Planning Application for the new Shawfair All-through Campus has been submitted to Midlothian Council Planning Authority.

The new Shawfair All-Through Campus is envisaged as a community facility with a school at its heart. The building will bring together Early Years provision, a primary school and a secondary school within a single campus while also providing shared facilities for use by the wider Shawfair community. The project represents Midlothian Council’s vision for a fully integrated, community-oriented campus that sends out a clear message as to the value that the council places on the quality of the educational environment for young people and local communities, while embodying an integrally sustainable design and life-cycle approach.

The Shawfair Masterplan for the surrounding area proposes the creation of around 4000 new homes, for which this facility will cater. The campus will offer educational provision for up to 100 nursery places, a two-stream primary school and 900 spaces for secondary school pupils in addition to a variety of community facilities.

The proposals are being developed on behalf of Midlothian Council by jmarchitects, Turner & Townsend, Goodson Associates, Wallace Whittle and Oobe in conjunction with construction partner BAM.
