Scaffolding Started at Custom House

Custom House in Dundee is starting its transformation into a building under renovation. Scaffolding has been erected on two sides of the building and demolition works are underway. A site walkthrough will the design team and contractors this week allowed all parties to work through the next steps for the interior of the building.

The team got to explore the highest and lowest areas of the building which led to the unfortunate discovery of a long deceased furry friend in the previously locked central basement. Additional mosaics were also uncovered along with the unique original window installation techniques that utilised brick arch structures and wedges, showing the extraordinary craftmanship of Custom House’s original builders.

After the walk through everyone present reflected on how excited they were to be working on a project as special as Custom House and how spectacular the finished product will be.
