We are thrilled to share that jmarchitects has been selected to exhibit at the 199th Annual RSA Exhibition at the Royal Scottish Academy. Attending the opening on Friday, we were delighted to see our work among an outstanding selection of contemporary art and architecture.
This prestigious exhibition, now in its 199th year, provides a vital platform for some of the country’s leading creatives to showcase their work. This year’s architectural highlights include exciting proposals from across Scotland.
Our exhibition, Roof as Landscape: Topography and Typologies of the Calanais Visitor Centre, explores a vernacular approach to roof design through the proposed extension of the Calanais Visitor Centre on the Isle of Lewis. We present an abstracted model of the roofscape alongside hand sketches and professional visualisations, collectively reimagining the roof not merely as shelter but as a sculptural, unifying element that resonates with the heritage and topography of the Outer Hebrides.
A special thanks goes to Dalgety Design, whose stunning visuals beautifully complement our model and hand-drawn sketches, capturing the essence of the proposal.
