Positive public engagement for new affordable housing in Dundee!

jmarchitects were pleased to support the second public consultation event for an exciting new residential development proposed for Brown Street, Dundee.

Located within the Blackness Conservation Area, the project brings a range of one, two and three-bedroom affordable apartments to the heart of Dundee.

The proposal aims to achieve a mix of building densities, tenures, and typologies, integrating diverse but compatible uses such as workshops and residential accommodation.

We believe the site provides a key opportunity for future growth which could address local housing needs and contribute to the maintenance of housing land supply.

The Local Development Plan describes the Brown Street site as having the “potential to accommodate new and expanded uses, as it benefits from a central location, good connectivity and population density in the surrounding area. A physically more welcoming place would significantly improve the perception of the area, increase footfall, and in turn increase the economic attractiveness of the area as a place to invest and do business”.
