Planning Permission Approved for Causewayside

We are thrilled to announce that our new student accommodation at Causewayside has officially secured planning permission - a fantastic milestone for the project and the team behind it.

The project brief sets out the creation of a new purpose-built student residence at 140 Causewayside. Approved at committee in January 2026, we look forward to delivering the scheme for anticipated opening in 2029. The proposal includes the demolition of the existing vacant building to make way for 172 bed spaces, offered through a mix of cluster rooms, studios, accessible studios, and generous internal and external amenity areas. This variety of room types is intended to meet the diverse needs and preferences of future residents.

A central ambition of the brief is to ensure that both the new building and its landscape integrate sensitively with the surrounding urban context. The design retains and enhances key characteristics of the site while delivering modern, well-considered accommodation and outdoor spaces. The development also seeks to introduce wider benefits, including an active and engaging street frontage and improved biodiversity through a carefully designed landscape strategy.

Throughout the design process, the proposals have been shaped with close attention to the neighbouring conservation areas and listed buildings. The emerging scheme aspires to be contextually appropriate, contributing positively to the character of Causewayside while providing much-needed student housing in a sustainable and thoughtfully designed environment.
