Planning Approval Secured for Extra Care Building in Maghull!

A major milestone achieved! Planning permission has been granted for The Extra Care Building off Damfield Lane in Maghull which comprises 129 apartments, indoor communal areas and a high-quality outdoors amenity spaces.

We are absolutely delighted that the Extra Care Development at Damfield Lane has received planning approval! The application for the new scheme, which we have developed on behalf of our client, Torus, was approved at Sefton Council’s Committee on the 5th of February.

Consent was granted for a wider Care Campus in November 2013. This included the current site, a dementia care unit to the north and independent living lodge dwellinghouses to the south. The extra care proposal will form the last piece of the original, consented vision for the wider site as a Care Campus.

The proposed building comprises 129 apartments, being a mixture of 1 and 2 bedroom flats, together with communal areas located at ground floor. The apartments are positioned in wings forming angles between them which preserves the surrounding buildings privacy while provides open views to the proposed scheme. The angled wings will break up the elevations resulting in an appearance of reduced scale building, close in size to the rest of the care campus.

Residents will benefit from a range of amenity spaces, communal and private, to cater to the potentially wide variety of users. A broad range of outdoors amenity spaces will be available within the site boundary and within a short walk.
