Construction wrapped up and both the Welcome Building and the Forestry Skills Centre have been handed over including internal furnishing designed by our in-house interiors team with the building due to open to the public in September.
What an exciting way to enter the summer of 2026, as jmarchitects held their summer party, the Northern Roots Welcome Building and the Forestry Skills Centre were being handed over after 3 years of collaboration with Northern Roots, Oldham Council and Willmott Dixon.
The Welcome Building, previously known as the Visitors Centre, now showcases its beautiful timber structure and cladding, while its red multi-brick finish links back to the industrial heritage of the site and ties in handsomely with the timber. The views from the café are already stunning, with large curtain wall glazing framing the growing gardens, playground, the solar farm, and the Peak District in the distance.
Hidden within the trees stands the Forestry Skills Centre. Its black cladding gives it a strong character, with robust accommodation for creative and innovative opportunities.
