Introducing The Cube, jmarchitects’ latest commercial project

We are delighted to announce that jmarchitects is currently working on the refurbishment of The Cube at 45 Leith Street, Edinburgh, for Sicore Real Assets GmbH (formerly known as HansaInvest).

This project aims to significantly reduce the building’s energy consumption and enhance occupant wellbeing through decarbonisation and energy efficiency, aligning with Scotland’s climate change ambitions and the principles of sustainable development.

The project comprises a comprehensive refurbishment of the building, originally constructed in 2009, including works to the common areas, 62,000 sq ft of office space, and 7,500 sq ft of roof terraces. The scheme will also deliver new end-of-journey facilities and a dedicated wellness room.

Sustainability is a key driver for the project, which is targeting a 5-star NABERS rating, BREEAM ‘Excellent’, EPC ‘A’ certification, and Platinum ActiveScore. A fully electric mechanical HVAC system will be installed, alongside a new roof-mounted PV array to support the project’s decarbonisation strategy.

jmarchitects has worked closely with the team at Sicore to develop a strong interior design concept for each key area of the scheme, with a focus on biophilic design and circular economy principles.
