A new building for Forres Academy starts on site!

Hub North Scotland and Moray Council reached financial close at the end of May, with Balfour Beatty confirmed as the main contractor for the new £88.6million project in Forres.

Our team at jmarchitects, along with the wider design team, have been working closely with Moray Council, Hub North Scotland and Balfour Beatty to develop the proposals for a new school for Forres. Balfour Beatty have started early mobilisation works, with main construction due to commence on Monday 22^nd June.

The proposed building is set to accommodate 1120 secondary pupils including an Enhanced Provision for 40 pupils. Phase One of the project which includes the construction of the new school building, its immediate landscaping work and the bus drop off area is planned to complete in Autumn 2028. Following the decant of staff and pupils, the existing school building will be demolished as part of Phase Two and a new 3G sports pitch and car parking will be constructed. The existing Forres Swimming Pool and Fitness Centre will be retained.
