Topping Out Ceremony at Mongtomerie Park Primary School!

It was our pleasure to attend a Topping-Out Ceremony at the nearly completed Montgomerie Park Primary School in Irvine. A tree was planted with the assistance of North Ayrshire Provost, Anthea Dickson, and some of the future pupils at the school.

As the enormous challenge of building one of Scotland’s first Passivhaus Schools continues, the Local Authority, Project Team, local parents, and pupils paused to reflect on the positive steps being taken to build a school which assists in preserving our Environment and Ecosystems, as well as providing a nurturing environment for tomorrow’s adults to learn, grow and realise their full potential. Montgomerie Park Primary School will provide up to 342 school places and 32 Nursery places for local children, as well as some important facilities for the local community. The school will provide flexible indoor and outdoor learning spaces, with the integration of nature into the grounds in a sensitive landscaping scheme which beds the facility in its context on the edge of the coastal town of Irvine. Excellent indoor and outdoor sports and performance facilities will assist in allowing pupils and the local community to remain healthy in body and mind as we move through the 21st Century. As well the huge reduction in energy consumption which the Building’s Passivhaus design ensures, longevity and adaption to future climate conditions has been considered in the design, to ensure the building will serve multiple generations in the future.
