Minet School is Now Complete!

jmarchitects are so excited to share that the project to extend and refurbish Minet Infants and Juniors Schools is now complete! As architects, we worked with the contractors, Morgan Sindall, to develop this DfE funded project, which was carried out in two phases, starting in 2022.

This project was for the extension and refurbishment of co-joined Juniors and Infants schools under the Department for Education Priority School Building Programme to bring the buildings up to modern standards. The original 1950’s brick clad concrete frame buildings required extensive remodelling to provide a logical sequence of spaces, while much of the fabric was replaced to provide an adequate environment in terms of insulation, ventilation, solar gain and acoustics.

The work to each school was carried out in sequence, with a temporary school built on adjoining playing fields. The central hall and kitchen block, shared by the two schools was refurbished over the summer holidays while the two schools swapped over.
