jmresearch – Huntarian Mackintosh Archive

Last month our Glasgow team had special access to the Huntarian’s Mackintosh Archive, where we had the opportunity to engage with Mackintosh’ drawings first hand, providing invaluable insight into his daily practice.

A sample of their extensive collection was presented by Joseph Sharples, the Huntarian’s Curator of Mackintosh Collections & Applied Art, focusing on drawings that communicate Mackintosh’ process through stages of research, design execution and exhibition. Works were expertly presented and illustrated a clear line of enquiry through all stages of work, rooted in local culture with an international eye, and served as a reminder of the cultural context our practice today sits within.
