Learning Places Scotland Lunch and Net Zero Learn

Yunming Thomson from our Edinburgh studio was invited to attend the Net Zero Networking Lunch hosted by Learning Places Scotland yesterday.

The morning session focused on the delivery of Currie Community High School and the challenges and solutions arising on the journey to Passivhaus Certification.

John Jackson from the City of Edinburgh Council’s Sustainable Construction Team gave a background into the drivers for going down the Passivhaus route which included construction quality, environmental comfort and closing the energy performance gap. Gordon Shewan, Associate Director from Faithful and Gould outlined the procurement route with Ann-Marie Fallon of Architype providing a detailed insight into how to ensure build quality using 3d details and sequencing drawings. Neil Armstrong of Kier Group give a really insightful session of the methods employed to get supply chain buy-in in order to achieve Passivhaus quality.

Following lunch, the participants engaged in a net zero embodied carbon workshop chaired by Steven Anderson of Scottish Futures Trust.
