Immerse yourself at the Hutton Hub!

Last week, The James Hutton Institute held its first event in the new Hutton Hub, Aberdeen, a space for academics, businesses and the public to collaborate and use cutting-edge technology to help the north-east achieve a Just Transition to Net Zero.

With a focus on re-use, sustainability and biophilic design, the Hutton Hub forms a new heart to the building. The former entrance, staff canteen, meeting room and library area were completely remodelled and opened up to form a welcoming reception area leading to a new open science café space and immersive VR suite. Two spacious conference rooms and a podcasting room complete the facilities which are open to hire for businesses and the public.

Recycled materials are featured throughout the project. A reclaimed gym floor is used in the conference rooms, recycled plywood worktops feature in the breakout areas and fabrics are recycled plastic.

Visual connections have been re-established between the interior and exterior spaces and the rich interior colour scheme takes inspiration from the stunning surrounding gardens.
