The First Minister of Scotland, John Swinney, officially opens the new Hutton Hub

Alongside the James Hutton Institute’s Chief Executive, Professor Colin Campbell, the First Minister unveiled a plaque and, in Hutton tradition, cut a cake, to formally open the Hub at the Craigiebuckler Campus in Aberdeen.

The First Minister stressed the crucial role of the Hutton Hub in supporting collaboration and net‑zero education, more important than ever amid ongoing energy instability.

He also toured the facilities and received a demonstration of the Hub’s Immersive Suite which uses cutting edge technology to create simulated immersive environments, giving users a far more accessible way of engaging with nature-based net-zero solutions.

He was joined on the tour by Cabinet Secretary for Climate Action and Energy, Gillian Martin, and Professor Lee-Ann Sutherland, Director of the International Land Use Study Centre.
