Our Manchester studio is pleased to welcome another new member to jmarchitects! Cristian Dubina joins us as our newest Architect!

Please give Cristian a warm welcome as we celebrate his arrival. We are looking forward to collaborating on our busy ongoing projects with him and seeing the fantastic work he will produce!

Welcome to the team Cristian, we’re super excited to have you on board!

We asked Cristian a few questions to get to know him better and this is what he said…

Why did you choose a career in the construction industry?

When I was younger, I aspired to become a lawyer, but I soon realised that I preferred visual thinking over extensive reading. This led me to consider a career in design or architecture. Ultimately, I chose the construction industry because it presents a constant challenge that keeps me engaged and energised. It gives me a sense of purpose, knowing that I am contributing something meaningful to the world.”

What trends do you feel are important in Architecture/ Design?

“With the ongoing evolution of the world, I’ve noticed that the spaces we live in are becoming smaller. As a result, flexible and multi-functional spaces, combined with minimalist design, have become both trendy and necessary. I admire environments that can serve multiple purposes throughout the day while maintaining a clean, simple aesthetic. This approach maximises functionality, ensuring that spaces evolve with the needs of the occupants, all while preserving comfort, efficiency, and visual clarity.

Biophilic design is increasingly used in new projects due to its aesthetic appeal and the seamless integration of nature within the built environment. I believe it enhances the connection between building users and their natural surroundings, fostering a sense of well-being. When implemented correctly, biophilic design not only benefits the users of the building but can also improve the broader area, contributing to a healthier, more sustainable environment for everyone. Its positive impact on mental health, productivity, and the overall atmosphere of a space makes it an essential consideration in contemporary design.
