Work progressing at Hawkhill Primary!

jmarchitects are excited to see the new Hawkhill Primary School taking shape on site. The project provides much needed additional educational facilities in the expanding town of Winchburgh.

The new single stream primary school and early years facility is located on the expanding eastern edge of Winchburgh, West Lothian. The new primary school will provide space for 231 pupils and 42 early years places, with the ability to expand in the future if required. We are delighted to be continuing our successful collaboration with West Lothian Council, Hub South East, and Morrison Construction, following on from the recently completed Holy Family and Calderwood Primary schools.

The new Hawkhill Primary builds on our recent work with West Lothian Council and the desire for enhanced flexibility and openness in the teaching environments. The school provides a mix of enclosed, semi-enclosed, and open plan teaching spaces to offer a variety of opportunities for learning. The project seeks to enhance connections across the school and early years facility through the use of ample breakout and open plan spaces as well as strong connections to the surrounding landscape.

The internal open plan spaces are starting to take shape with the open barn roof form adding a different dimension to the central spaces.’
