The Grade II listed Clerkenwell Road pub has reopened this summer, as an integral part of the new 152 room Hotel Indigo!
Working with the team at Reach CM and Omenport Development, jmarchitects are pleased to see the initial opening of the Hat and Feathers pub and Hotel Indigo on their prominent site in Clerkenwell, London. The hotel pays tribute to Clerkenwell’s rich creative history with interior design inspired by clockmaking, goldsmithing and architecture, given a contemporary and sustainable twist.
The jmarchitects team have steered the refurbishment of the pub through a Listed Building Application, including a re-imagining of the back of house spaces, two new naturally lit meeting/event rooms, retention of early 1900s glazed partitions, dado panelling and traditional bar front, and sensitive upgrading of the bar and customer areas. The pub exterior has also been sensitively refurbished, with the original signage restored by City Of London Signs and rehung.
This has allowed the bar to start serving again after its closure in 2011.
jmarchitects are continuing the project to compete the lower ground and basement floors of the hotel, the planting in the atrium and the fifth-floor roof terrace, all of which are scheduled to be complete by December 2025.
