jmarchitects celebrate Gateway 2 submission for Blacklight’s 202 bed PBSA scheme, Devon Street, Liverpool!

We are pleased to announce that we have submitted Gateway 2 application for the Devon St. PBSA scheme in Liverpool for Blacklight Capital Partners!

This flagship student residential development comprises 202 high-quality studios across 8 to 10 storeys, complemented by ground-floor amenities and a dedicated commercial unit. Strategically designed as a "gateway" to the city centre, the scheme integrates seamlessly into the regeneration of Liverpool’s Fabric District.

The technical strategy utilizes an encased primary steel frame paired with project-specific, fire-tested SFS floor cassettes and off-site manufactured bathroom pods. The building envelope features a high-performance mechanical brick slip and aluminium rainscreen cladding system. To enhance sustainability, the development incorporates four distinct "blue roofs" designed to manage stormwater runoff and mitigate localized flood risk.

Following five months of rigorous technical coordination, the project team successfully submitted the Gateway 2 application. Achieving validation within 24 hours is a significant milestone, which is testament to the high standard of collaborative detail provided by the project team.
