Together with KR Developments Group Limited we are proud to announce that our design for Barrack Street in Dundee has been given the green light. We are excited to once again be working in a city renowned for its rich commercial, educational, and cultural heritage, coupled with an ambitious vision for the future. This project will revitalise a long-term vacant brownfield site, transforming it into a space of value and purpose.
Through the development of a purpose-built student residence at 56 Barrack Street, the proposal seeks to address the aims and objectives of the Local Development Plan and the Dundee Strategic Investment Plan 2050 by increasing the number of people living within Dundee City Centre. The project will deliver 367 bed spaces, featuring a variety of cluster rooms, studios, and accessible studios, supported by landscaped areas and accessible arrangements tailored to meet diverse needs.
The proposal has been developed by a multi-disciplinary team, this approach ensures that various perspectives and expertise are brought together to create a development that meets high standards of sustainability and high quality placemaking which contributes positively to its surroundings. By weaving a fabric-first and placemaking agenda into the concepts of the proposal, the team is prioritising aspects such as urban design, architectural integrity, and the creation of vibrant, liveable spaces. Focusing our commitment to not only meeting basic functional requirements but also enhancing the overall quality of the built environment and fostering a sense of place. By incorporating diverse perspectives and adhering to best practices in design, the team is well-positioned to create a development that enhances the urban fabric and enriches the lives of its inhabitants.
