Exciting plans have been approved for the future of St Peter's RC Primary School in Old Aberdeen, combining heritage conservation with modern educational design.

At the heart of the proposals is the retention and refurbishment of Old Aberdeen House , a significant granite building that has played an important role in the local community for generations. The upgraded facility will provide 14 classrooms, a nurture room, breakout spaces, library areas, and modern learning environments capable of supporting a two-stream primary school.

A contemporary new extension will connect the historic building to the dining and games hall, creating a cohesive campus while respecting the character of the surrounding conservation area. The new main entrance from Dunbar Street will improve accessibility, while thoughtful site planning maintains safe separation between pupils, visitors, and service access.

With improved accessibility, enhanced facilities, and increased capacity, the development aims to deliver a high-quality, fit-for-purpose educational environment that supports the growing Aberdeen community while preserving an important part of its architectural heritage.
