We are extremely proud to announce that our Westfield Road student residential project has received planning permission from City of Edinburgh Council.
Located to the west of the city at the point where the western approach transitions into Westfield Road. The site is bounded to the east and north by a spur railway line which connect the historic suburban and southside junction railway to the main east west line in and out of Edinburgh. To the northeast of the site is the significant landmark of Murrayfield Stadium.
Our proposal seeks to assist with the regeneration of the local area and enhancing links to the city context by developing an existing brownfield site, though the creation of a vibrant purpose-built 289 bed-room student residency with associated on-site amenities, courtyards, rain gardens, extensive green roofs and an active landscaped frontage which will have a positive impact on the wider area. The proposal provides a sustainable, contemporary, refined, and appropriate design solution that will revitalise the local area.
The project was presented and approved at this month’s Development Management Sub-Committee.
We look forward to working with Host Students to take this exciting development from the drawing board and on to site!
Many thanks to everyone involved in making this project a reality.
“We are delighted that this unused site to the west of the City Centre will be brought back to life. The site has various constraints and limitations, which jmarchitects and the rest of the consultant team have been able to address and, in the process, develop a high quality design which places student well-being at its heart.”
