This project involved the extension and adaptation of a 1970’s sports building in Twechar. The council had identified this as their flagship project for the regeneration of the neighbourhood and village.

One of the tasks was to reinforce the entrance with the addition of a south facing café that opened up on to a deck to create a community asset in the evening. A viewing window was created into the sports hall and the open aspect of the café reinvigorates the visitor’s sense of arrival in the new facility.

The new building has become the centre of the community with a doctor’s surgery, pharmacy, resource area and meeting rooms. Combined with the sports facility this is a positive addition for young and old in the town.
