jmarchitects are honoured to be working in partnership with Robertson Construction and the Mid Cheshire Trust for the design of a small two-room extension to the maternity ward at Leighton Hospital, Crewe.
This will provide a comforting environment for the mother and family to help them come to terms with their loss and trauma associated with the delivery of a stillborn baby. The proposal provides a dedicated birthing suite with its own facilities and separate entrance to allow peaceful access and egress for the family.
The extension will incorporate a dedicated access to the mother’s bedroom with its private bathroom and adjacent baby room. A new kitchen and living room with a look out and access to a small secluded landscaped garden to offer a peaceful outlook and be used as a space for reflection. This new facility will prevent the need for grieving parents to interact with other users of the maternity ward. We are delighted to announce that this special project is now commencing on site!
