Lampwick Quay is complete and welcomed its first residents in early September 2021.
jmarchitects worked with SISK to deliver Lampwick Quay, initially designed by CallisonRTKL, for Manchester Life Development Company. Manchester Life Development Company, The Abu Dhabi United Group and Manchester City Council joint venture are in the process of regenerating and developing Ancoats and New Islington.
It comprises 213, one, two and three-bed apartments and duplexes over ten floors. The ground floor includes four commercial units with frontage to Old Mill Street and communal areas, including a gym and club room for residents.
Located on New Islington Marina, Lampwick Quay boasts a striking sawtooth roofline that harks back to the industrial mills that once stood on the site.
The external façades of Lampwick Quay are predominantly zinc cladding, with the main street façade in buff brick. Interlocking and Mozaik panels, coupled with Standing Seam cladding, carefully arranged in four different colours, make this a unique and striking development.
The gold standing seam which flows along the sawtooth roof cascades down the side of the building and culminates in a feature canopy over the main entrance of the building. The profile of this roof also helps to create some unique spaces within the duplex apartments with vaulted ceilings and large open plan living/dining/kitchen spaces.
