Optivo’s Alton Road development in Wandsworth, designed by jmarchitects, won the Best Scheme in Planning (over 30 units) at the National Housing Awards 2019. The ceremony held on the 5th of September at the Grosvenor House Hotel is the National Housing Federation’s annual showcase of best residential led schemes across the UK. Alton Road will deliver a total of 95 high quality new homes, including 41 extra care flats for the over 55’s, fully integrated with 54 Shared Ownership, one, two and three bedroom homes suitable for both young professionals and local families.
Planning permission for the scheme was granted in July to demolish the now vacant 1960s Pocklington Court building currently on the site, which had come to the end of its design life. Construction works are due to commence this autumn with completion expected by December 2021.
