Opening up the conversation about mental health problems is so important – which is why jmarchitects are supporting this year’s Time to Talk Day.

Time to Talk day, run by Mind and Rethink Mental Illness, focusses on creating supportive communities by having conversations with family, friends, or colleagues about mental health and wellbeing. We all have mental health, and by talking about it (good or bad), we can support ourselves and others.

Conversations about mental health have the power to change lives. Research shows how important open conversations in communities are to support everyone’s mental wellbeing.

Talking about mental health is important because:

  • 1 in 4 of us will experience a mental health problem in any given year
  • It reduces stigma and helps to create supportive communities where we can talk openly about mental health and feel empowered to seek help when we need it.

Across the offices, our teams have set aside time to check in with each other, share experiences and ideas of ways to integrate mental health and wellbeing within our everyday conversations.

To further support staff, we also have Mental Health First Aiders to offer non-judgemental help and assistance. Together, we can help tackle the stigma around mental health.
