Linkwood Primary School in Elgin is progressing well on site, despite the 4 month delay caused by Covid-19. Completion of the school was originally intended for June 2020, however the project team are working hard to complete and handover the school to the Moray Council late October/early November 2020. The main school building envelope is complete, with external landscape works progressing well to the rear playground, with MUGA pitch in place and commencement of a covered external classroom. There is a large SUDS pond to the west of the site, and pedestrian links into the developing residential masterplan surrounding the site.

Significant progress has also been made inside the building with sanitaryware, services, joinery and FF&E being installed. In the heart of the building, the double height dining area is shaping together with timber finishes to the feature hellerup stair and acoustic balustrading; and ceiling recessed linear and pendant lighting. Adjacent the dining hall is the double height games hall which is also generously clad in timber – birch faced plywood linings. Visual connection between the games hall and first floor is created through vast expanses of internal glazed screens. Acoustic panels wrap around the games hall on all walls between the timber linings and glazed screens.

Open plan classrooms overlook the shared central spaces to provide enhanced accessibility and wayfinding, in addition to creating a strong sense of community.
