Pupil/Student Experience – Lossiemouth High School

The existing Lossiemouth High School and Community Centre have been brought together into one new, modern civic building, providing high-quality sports, performance, shared learning and library facilities for use by the school and the wider community. The brief aspired to a building which will act as a school and community hub and one which is flexible with shared facilities operating all year round.

The building is essentially formed of two blocks; a teaching block, and a sports block, which meet at the eastern side to create a shared frontage and external public plaza. The proposed design puts the pupil and their learning opportunities at the centre of the school through the creation of a clear, efficient and flexible solution to the client’s brief. These principles are manifest through the creation of the shared, social spaces at the core of the building which offer a highly functional and exciting environment for the pupils, staff and community.
