jmarchitects attended a DTM and site walkround at Holy Family Primary School on the 2nd of February 2022.
This is a new primary school project being constructed by Morrison Construction for West Lothian Council and is located in Winchburgh. It forms part of a larger development on the site which also includes two new secondary schools and a sports block which have been developed by Ryder Architecture and we have worked in close collaboration with Ryder to develop a considered approach to the overall site and building design to fulfil West Lothian Councils expectations for the overall project.
The site works are gathering pace with the majority of brickwork and cladding forming the external envelope now well progressed. Internally, the partition walls in the primary school are nearing completion and the partition walls within the nursery are progressing well. The installation of ceiling grids has commenced in the primary along with some initial flooring finishes at first floor level. We reviewed some internal detail proposals with the design managers and site manager to ensure any tricky interfaces are considered prior to works commencing.
As the construction of the school moves forward, it is great to get a sense of the spaces developing and the quality of light that is provided within key areas.
