Stewart Davie and Ciaran Quinn were delighted to attend the official opening of Holy Family Primary School on the 29th November 2022. During the official opening ceremony, the school plaque was unveiled by Kathleen Dalyell OBE and a dedication and blessing was given by Archbishop Leo Cushley.

It was also fantastic to hear from Greg Welsh, Head of Education for West Lothian Council, Lawrence Fitzpatrick, Leader of West Lothian Council and Colette Murray, Headteacher with their thoughts on the new school building and how the children have embraced their new learning environment.

The innovative approach of a three-sided classroom which was driven by West Lothian Council provided the opportunity for jmarchitects to create flexible and open breakout spaces and blur the boundaries between the larger dining area to create the opportunity for informal uses of space.  The position of the hellerup provides a physical and visual link to the first floor library space with natural light from the large rooflight above and this area provides a multitude of flexible uses for the children and staff.  The headteacher also noted that the general purpose ‘Creative Lab’ is a favourite with the children – an interchangeable space where they can learn about numerous subjects such as cooking and science.
