jmarchitects are pleased to announce that the new Hawkhill Primary School in Winchburgh has started construction on site.

The new single stream primary school and early years facility is located on the expanding easter edge of Winchburgh, West Lothian. The new primary school will provide space for 231 pupils and 42 early years places, with the ability to expand in the future if required. We are delighted to be continuing our successful collaboration with West Lothian Council and Morrison Construction following on from the recently completed Holy Family and Calderwood Primary schools.

The new Hawkhill Primary builds on our recent work with West Lothian Council and the desire for enhanced flexibility and openness in the teaching environments. The school provides a mix of enclosed, semi-enclosed and open plan teaching spaces to offer a variety of opportunities for learning. The project seeks to enhance connections across the school and early years facility through the use of ample breakout and open plan spaces as well as strong connections to the surrounding landscape.

“We are delighted that the Hawkhill Primary school project has reached financial close and is now commencing works on site. This project will provide much needed additional educational facilities in the expanding town of Winchburgh while continuing West Lothian’s aspirations for inspiring and innovative learning environments from our previous collaborations in the surrounding area.”
