A groundworks package has been awarded PD Groundworks, which represents another important step in the ambitious development programme at Govan Old.
Works commenced on 20th March 2023 which will see the construction of the ground floor slab and below-ground drainage which takes the project closer to its goal: a new-build extension providing lettable office space, toilet facilities, a lift and plant space to revitalise the existing church building as a bookable venue and visitor experience for the Govan Stones. The works will also see the completion of a river-source heat pump that will provide cost-efficient sustainable heating for the building.
“We are delighted for the first package of works for this second phase of the redevelopment of Govan Old Parish Church to be moving forward. This represents an important milestone in the long road to securing the future of this important building. Importantly, this project is supported by the determined ambition of our client, Govan Heritage Trust, which is to maximise the incredible potential of this Grade-A listed-building and create a world-class setting for the Govan Stones.”
