jmarchitects are excited to see construction of the replacement for Galashiels Academy start on site!
We are delighted to see the Replacement Galashiels Academy project progress to construction phase this month! The new community campus will replace the existing Galashiels Academy & Galashiels Swimming Pool and provide a wide range of other community facilities on site.
Reaching contract close and starting construction marks a significant milestone in the project and is testament to the hard work and dedication of the project team and everyone who has been involved in the process to date.
The new facility will be constructed whilst the existing school and swimming pool remain operational, avoiding significant disruption for pupils and local community and ultimately delivering a world-class education and community facility.
The project is being delivered by Scottish Borders Council’s development partner, Hub South East Scotland, with Morrison Construction the appointed contractor and jmarchitects as the lead consultant of the design team.
“I’d like to congratulate all parties involved for the work that’s been done in developing plans for the new Galashiels Academy and achieving the key milestones of contract close.
Reaching the position where we can start main works on site is an exciting step in the journey to a new inspiring learning space for pupils, as well as the delivery of an asset for the wider local community. This further cements the strong partnership between Hub South East and our partners in Scottish Borders Council and we look forward to progressing the build and ensuring the realisation of a range of local benefits and social value”
