Plans have been approved for the Easthouses Primary School by Midlothian Council. The designs, which have been prepared by jmarchitects on behalf of Midlothian Council and Hub South East, will locate a new two-stream primary school for 459 pupils, 80 place nursery and 16 place ASN facility on the site of the former Newbattle High.
The school is arranged around a shared semi-enclosed courtyard that seeks to take advantage of the views to the Pentlands whilst providing a safe, secure and inspiring outdoor learning experience
“We are delighted to be working with Hub South East and Midlothian Council on bringing forward these proposals for Easthouses Primary School. The school will provide an important new educational setting to relieve pressures on the surrounding catchment areas whilst knitting together the surrounding context, both existing and emerging, to create a strong civic node in the area.”
