jmarchitects have just completed a number of early years nursery projects in East Renfrewshire in 5 separate locations. Our approach has been to create 5 solutions that recognise the unique nature of each location. Building form with distinctive pitched roofs allows for the creation of bright interior spaces with volume but also gives the nurseries identity. An important feature is that the interiors make strong connections to the external play spaces and landscape. A mix of materials including zinc and timber recognises the natural feel of the various sites and harmonise the nurseries with their context.

All five Early Years nursery projects for East Renfrewshire Council have now been completed and handed over, with four already in use.

Crookfur, Overlee, Eaglesham and Busby early years centres each provide accommodation for 120 children, within a mix of large volume mixed play spaces, quieter zones and covered outdoors learning spaces. The larger Glenwood Family Centre provides 180 places.
