Our Calton Road student accommodation project is coming to an end after being on site for the last two years. This is an 87 bed development situated within the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Old Town of Edinburgh.
The design sought to fit within the historic streetscape and gained support from the Cockburn Society for its sensitive contemporary approach. The site proved challenging, hemmed in on 3 sides by existing structures, including a substantial retaining wall to the rear. Communal, ancillary, commercial and residential facilities are located on the ground floor with four floors of residential studio style accommodation above. The client is Student Roost and the main contractor is Clark Contracts.
