We are delighted to announce that Calderwood Primary School was commended at the Scottish Design Awards in the Architecture: Education Building or Project category!
“We are absolutely delighted to have received this commendation which recognises the hard work and commitment to this fantastic project, starting from the early concepts and design ideas that were developed with West Lothian Council, through to the successful completion and handover. It is great to see the vibrancy in the school and the staff and pupils embracing their new learning environment.”
– Ciaran Quinn, jmarchitects Senior Architect
jmarchitects approach was to design a new educational facility that would offer the opportunity to provide a series of flexible interchangeable spaces within an overall building plan that provides opportunities for pupils of all ages to interact and learn from each other. This design approach gives provision for future adaptation of the building by allowing spaces to be utilised for different functions and we have also considered the future expansion of the building as the school role grows.
